Abstract

A new type of wave power generator is proposed in this paper. It consists of a body and multiple buoys with link mechanisms. The body and buoys are designed such that the body remains stationary, while the buoys move up and down in response to the waves. The link mechanisms convert the relative motion between the body and buoys into a driving torque in one direction for the power generator. The advantage of the proposed system is that it can adopt general rotary generators and provide a better quality of the generated electric power through the cooperation of the multiple buoys, compared with a single big reciprocating buoy. Computer simulations have been done to estimate capability of electrical power generation. The maximum electric output power has been found by optimizing some design parameters and evaluated.
